Dimension sources and assumptions (v3-joy-draft3)
Written 2026-10-02. v3 inherits every v2 assumption in ../mini-v2/SOURCES.md (screen, fan, fasteners). Those are still VERIFY. This file lists what v3 adds or changes. VERIFY = confirm against the datasheet or a caliper before the affected print.
Printer
| Item | Value | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build volume | 120 × 120 × 120 mm | AOSEED product listings for the X-MAKER JOY | Listed spec. The slicer's usable area may be smaller. |
MAX_XY, MAX_Z |
114, 118 mm | 3 mm per side kept for the bed edge/brim, 2 mm Z margin | Design choice. |
| Filament | PLA, 1.75 mm assumed | Not checked | VERIFY (some kid printers use proprietary spools). |
Keyboard
| Constant | Value | Status |
|---|---|---|
KB_PCB_W, KB_PCB_D |
233 × 79.5 mm Planck-format PCB | VERIFY on the PCB bought. The cavity adds 1 mm per side. |
| USB connector | USB-C on the back edge, position unknown | VERIFY. Three plug pockets cover X −105…−52, −24…24 and 52…105 (clear of the plate screws). |
| Layout | 12 × 4 grid, all 1u | A 2u MIT spacebar needs a stabiliser cutout, which is not in this draft. |
SW_CUT |
14.1 mm | MX standard 14.0 + FDM allowance. Tune with FIT_switch_plate_2x2. |
PLATE_CLIP_T |
1.5 mm | MX plate standard; the plate is 3 mm with 15.6 mm underside reliefs. |
PCB_TOP_Z |
plate top − 5.0 mm | MX standard spacing. |
SOCKET_H |
1.85 mm | Kailh hot-swap socket height, from memory: VERIFY. |
KEYCAP_ENV_H |
16 mm above the plate | OEM-ish envelope: VERIFY with the chosen keycaps (it only affects the keycap-to-rim numbers). |
| PCB support | Held by the switches + 3 mm bumpons | Plate-mount sandwich; no PCB screws. VERIFY feel. |
Mini PC (draft2)
| Item | Value | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model | KAMRUI P1 class Ryzen mini PC | Nate's pick (Amazon listing B0DNFNMTPN) as the form factor | Final model not chosen. |
PC_L, PC_W, PC_H |
128.2 × 128.2 × 51 mm | KAMRUI store page for the P1 | VERIFY on the box bought; other P1 listings say 128.5 mm. The window and hood leave 1 mm per side and 6 mm above. |
| Power | 19 V 3.42 A, 5.5 × 2.1 mm barrel | KAMRUI store page | VERIFY. |
| Port faces | Front: power button and some USB/audio. Rear: DC, HDMI, DP, LAN, USB-A, USB-C | Assumed from typical P1 photos; the store page does not split front/rear | VERIFY. The front faces the side window (2.5 mm lip); the rear faces the open left half. |
| Cooling | Own fan, bottom/side intake assumed | Not checked | VERIFY. The PC stands on the desk with the base open underneath it, and the 40 mm fan pulls air out at the rear left. |
Speakers (draft2)
| Constant | Value | Status |
|---|---|---|
SPK_D, SPK_HOLE |
40 mm driver, 40.6 mm pocket | VERIFY on the driver. Check with FIT_speaker_pod. |
SPK_DEPTH |
22 mm front face to magnet back | VERIFY; the pod allows 25 mm. |
| Pod volume | about 30 cm³ sealed per side | Small; expect thin bass. Not measured. |
| Amplifier | USB audio + PAM8403 class board | Board size varies; it is taped down, with no printed mount. |
Mouse
| Constant | Value | Status |
|---|---|---|
DONOR_PCB_W/L |
34 × 62 mm | VERIFY: measure the donor board. |
DONOR_SWITCH_X/Y/TOP_Z |
±9 mm, +30 mm, 12.5 mm above the bottom plate | VERIFY: these set the plunger positions. |
DONOR_SENSOR_Y, window |
+6 mm, 22 × 26 mm window | Generous on purpose. The lens height comes from the donor and is set with shims. |
| Button flaps | 2.4 mm PLA cantilever, 44 mm long | Estimated ~1.5 N extra click force on top of the switch. Untested. |
Changes from v2 for gluing
| Item | v2 | v3 | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deck | 3 mm + ribs | 6 mm, no ribs | Dowels need ≥ 6 mm of material, and it carries the monitor. |
| Bay walls | front 3, rear 3 | front 8, rear 6 | Dowel sockets across tile seams. |
| Monitor shell wall / rear cover | 3 mm | 6 mm | Same. |
| Bay floor | one removable plate | 4 removable tiles on columns, left half only | No part may exceed 114 mm; the PC half is open to the desk. |
| Computer | Radxa X4 on the bay plate | KAMRUI P1 class box on the desk under a hood | Nate's chosen form factor (draft2). |
| Fan / cables out | X −50 / USB-C inlet −95 | X −80 / arched notch X −42…−12, 22 mm tall at the bottom of the rear wall | Nate runs the wiring inside; one notch replaces panel-mount jacks (draft3). |
| Deck vents | none | 7 × 2 slots over the PC, 7.5 mm clear of the pedestal | The PC top is 6 mm under the deck (draft3). |
| Speakers | none | 2 × 40 mm pods in the monitor sides | Added in draft2. |
| Pedestal bolts | M4 × 25 | M4 × 35 | Thicker deck and monitor floor. |
| Dowels | 3 mm pins in 4 places | 2 mm sockets for 1.75 mm filament on every seam (123) | Placed automatically where the section holds them; see seams.json. |
Unverified
- Glue-joint strength of the tiled base under the monitor load and typing.
- Warping of the solid front tiles (90 × 75 mm footprint, ~40 mm tall).
- Typing feel on the printed plate; plate flex at the 2.5 mm seam lips.
- PC thermals under the hood: not tested. Watch CPU temperatures under load.
- Speaker sound and rattles in the shell.
- Whether the donor mouse's sensor tracks through the printed window at its design height.
